Tommy, still dressed as Truth, found Vashti, who had gotten out safely despite the crush of the crowds. The fire department had arrived, and were beginning to pump water on the building, and the police were moving people away from the building as medics attended to the mostly minor injuries. Still, Truth had no trouble moving through the police lines, with Vashti in tow, to find the fire chief.
"How are things going, Chief?" she asked.
"As well as might be expected--better, really. It appears you got everyone out of the building with only some minor injuries, Justice caught one of the arsonists and the other appears to have accidentally set himself afire. The coroner is dealing with him now. And thanks to that angel bringing that burst of rain, we should have the rest of the fire contained soon. Of course, the building will have to be inspected before people can return to work, but it could have been a lot worse."
"Is there anything else I can do?"
The chief smiled. "Not unless you can let that angel know we could use another dash of that water."
Tommy shrugged, and looked at Vashti. "Maybe he heard you." Vashti nodded.
A moment later, the angel rose from somewhere nearby and circled above the building, and in a few minutes a large mass of water appeared to float into view and settle on the roof of the building. "Chief!" someone called, and pointed, and the chief, who had become occupied with other issues, looked.
"Well, I'll be. Maybe he did hear me."
Tommy and Vashti smiled at each other, and Vashti said, "Maybe."
