Chapter 156:  Takano 59
Table of Contents
Previous chapter:  Hastings 232

Tommy awoke to daylight filtering through sheltered vents around the high ceiling of the room, which looked even more like a hangar with the daylight revealing its size.  She sat up.

People were picking over the effectively empty trays from the banquet.  Tommy grabbed her laptop to see what she could do.  She did have a Wi-Fi connection to the central computer, but she could not order food delivery to this level.  It appeared that she could order feed, specially formulated for chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, pheasants, piglets, pigs, calves, cows, buffaloes, deer, elk, moose, bear, salmon, tuna, cod, lobsters--and the list went on to many other animals many of which Tommy had never imagined raising.  You could not order food for people up here.  There were not supposed to be people up here.

Well, that was a problem they would have to address.  Meanwhile, she should figure out what was happening in the room.

She stood up and contained her belongings.  Even though she knew she could track them anywhere in the world, she would prefer that the indigs didn’t help themselves to something of hers.  Taking her computer and her cell phone with her, along with her kawanaga on her belt hook, she spied Mister Beam over by that door that had opened the previous night, along with his man Bron, fiddling with some box on the wall.

It was a long walk across the garage, and Tommy was more interested in watching as she approached than she was in rushing to get there, so she saw them open the box.  Mister Beam was apparently using a large screwdriver, and was trying to get at the power cables.

Apparently he succeeded.  There was a huge flash, an electrical spark of light, and Mister Beam vanished.  So did Bron, and his cart full of tools.

“Missus Hastings!”, Tommy shouted.  “We’ve got a problem!”
